Being of the male persuasion, it is extremely unlikely that someone will send me an unsolicited photo of their penis, and for that I am thankful. I also feel for all the women who have to deal with this on a daily basis. I’m not really sure why men think that sending a woman a picture of their penis would make her swoon for him when they’ve never met, but whatever.
As for the publicly-posted penis pics, though — I really think men post those for other men to look at. Not because they’re sexually interested in these other men (well, not necessarily), but because they want to either (a) show off how proud they are of their penises or (b) try to frighten off other men with less-impressive or less-intimidating penises, so they have less competition.
Look, I’m going to get real for a minute here: although my partners have told me (and shown me) in numerous ways how great they think my penis is, it’s just a penis. It has all the parts a normal penis does. It’s normal in length and girth. From an aesthetic perspective, I think it’s better-looking than many other penises I’ve seen on the internet, but then, I don’t think I’ve ever looked at a picture of a penis and said “damn, that’s a good-looking penis.”
Anyway, the point I’m making is this: my partners are not with me because of my penis. I did not use it to attract them to me. None of them saw a picture of it before they saw it in person. And there are no pictures of it online or on any publicly-available apps. I have sent an occasional picture of it, by request, but I’m not going to post it on my blog, or my Twitter, or my Fetlife page. It’s not going to attract women. That’s not what it’s for.
With all of that in mind, it suggests to me that men are posting all these penis pictures so other men can see them. What other reason could there be?
