I don’t know if I have it in me

I don’t know if I have it in me to continue this blog much longer. I’ve been writing daily (well, every weekday) posts for years with little-to-no engagement and even less engagement with my books. Almost no one reviews them. I know people are reading them, but they don’t even bother to rate them, let alone tell me what they think.

Coming up with new content every weekday is a lot of work, and I just recently started searching for jobs again — yes, I have one, but I don’t think I’m a great fit, and it’s only a matter of time until they figure that out. Better to escape while I can. Anyway, job hunting eats up a lot of energy — creative and otherwise — and it’s so ridiculously demoralizing to get rejection after rejection. Last time around, it took me almost three full years to find a new job, and I was thankfully employed for 2.3 of them. That’s a lot of crushing defeats.

So I don’t know what’s going to happen. It’s now April 18 when I’m writing this, and I’m going to try to crank out another week’s worth of posts today. We’ll see how that goes. And in the meantime… read my books, I guess. If you want to.

  1. I hear you on that “letter of the day” piece, JJ! Perhaps taking a break or cutting back on posting would reinvigorate you? You may find that all those ideas swirling around your head are screaming to be shared! Wishing you the best as you search for jobs and determine your next steps! ☺️🍀

  2. OMG I am SO sorry to hear how little engagement there has been with all your efforts and amazing sharings. Rest assured that while we may not always have an opportunity to devour all you produce, enjoyment remains tremendous and always look forward to an opportunity to take a quick glimpse at whatever is going on. Is there any way which we can continue to convey appreciation in a more meaningful manner for you?

  3. I am somewhat new to the blogging scene and don’t have nearly the amount of subscribers you do, JJ, but I also don’t try to have a new post each day. I write when it comes to me. I usually translates to nearly every day but not always. Another thing that I’ve found important is engaging back with my readers who do comment. I’ve been trying to create a little community feel to my place and it seems to be working out so far in a humble fashion.

As for books, I have published a couple but have been told by a few readers that they only have vanilla accounts on Amazon to read things and don’t feel comfortable at all with leaving a review for one my novels or short stories because friends or family use that same account. This might be the case for some of your readers.

In any case, I hope you keep moving on with your blog and now that I’ve found you (referred by a friend) I’ll engage with you when it feels right!
