6. Our fetish has caused us hardship.

Yes. As I mentioned yesterday, it made my first marriage a miserable one. It also affected my second — I met her through Tumblr, via our shared interest in spanking, but as time went on and our bedroom became more and more dead the spanking went by the wayside as well. Then, with my first poly girlfriend during that marriage, the same thing happened. Without spanking, I wasn’t happy, but since I was in a relationship I thought I should stick it out and maybe things would get better. These days, I won’t date someone who isn’t into spanking, and I make sure spanking happens on a fairly regular basis.

7. Spanking takes priority over sex.

Yes and no. I love sex. But if I meet a sexy girl (or guy), the first thing I’m thinking of isn’t what they’d be like in bed; it’s what they’d look and sound like over my knee. Following quickly on the heels of that, of course, is the thought of having oral sex with them (and if they’re a woman, them sitting on my face), but spanking comes first.

8. It’s on our mind when we orgasm.

This one not so much for me. Though in the past I have masturbated while watching spanking videos, so.

9. Most of us have tried switching at least once.

I originally thought I was strictly a top, but toward the end of my first marriage I suggested that my then-wife spank me, because if she didn’t like having it done to her (despite her claims to the contrary early in the relationship) maybe I could get that need fulfilled by receiving. Over the years I’ve done a fair bit of switching, and I enjoy it from time to time.

10. We want spankings to feel as ‘real’ as possible.

Yes, but. There are two scenarios in my life that, growing up, I think I deserved to be spanked. As an adult I tried with two different people to recreate those feelings. While the spankings certainly hurt (a lot) my brain doesn’t seem to contain the “submissive” part that a lot of switches and bottoms have. I can appreciate the scenario, and the work that goes into it, and the pain that I’m feeling, but I never feel truly contrite, and I can’t cry. Crying from a spanking is usually more about mental things than physical ones, and I just don’t have that mental part. That said, I did almost cry from a spanking I received in 2022, but I think because I knew how far she was going to go and how many licks I was going to get at the end that I was able to avoid that. Not that I wanted to avoid it. It just happened.
