I have no idea how this happened, but I’m starting to see actual nudity on Instagram. Not just teases, or lingerie, or people talking about facesitting. Actual naked people.

I tried sharing a link to one of these posts with some friends in a NSFW chat group I’m in, but none of them could view it. So clearly I must have done something. I haven’t changed any settings recently, though. I feel like this is probably some sort of algorithmic change.

How did I do it? Well, I started with Raffaele Marinetti; one of his pieces of art showed up in my feed, and I hearted it. So the algorithm started showing me more, and I enjoyed them, so I continued hearting them. Then I started to see more artwork of this type from other artists. I appreciate good art, especially when facesitting is involved, so I hearted those pieces as well.

And then one day a fully-naked woman showed up on my Instagram. Followed, a couple dozen posts later, by another one. And another one. And so on.

I used to check Instagram while I was bored at work. Now I have to be a lot more careful, because all of a sudden I’m getting NSFW content left and right. Oh, I’m getting other content too — dogs, fart jokes, anti-work memes, movie and TV scenes — but every time I log onto Instagram there is nudity (and/or explicit spanking) at some point. Maybe it’s only one per session; maybe it’s two or three in a row two or three times during the session.

I asked Gemini why this is happening and it said it comes down to three possibilities: algorithmic glitches, moderation failures, or bypass tactics. It also tried to tell me how to make it stop showing up.

Pretty sure I’m not going to do that.
