Stuff Your Dungeon Needs, Part 2 (8/10): Sanitary Disposal Facilities

This one was suggested by Nemo. Read the rest of the series here.

This kind of goes along with the first-aid kit post. You should always have some sort of sanitary disposal facilities available at your dungeon, especially if you have guests who will be engaging in bloody activities. This could be as simple as a sharps container, or as complex as one of those sanitary medical bag trash can thingies.

Bloodborne pathogens are a real thing; I have to take training at work every year to make sure I know the right way to prevent them from being passed onto me. They’re not all STIs, either, although HIV/AIDS is always mentioned in my training. You can be as careful as possible, but if you don’t dispose of your bloody/fluid-y materials correctly, someone else could inadvertently be exposed to a pathogen.

I used to take an injectable medication, and rather than spending money on a disposal box (usually red, with a one-way-in no-way-out drop) I used a milk container, which my vet suggested to me. Just make sure not to recycle it by accident.

If you’re the one cleaning up the sanitary disposal area, wear gloves. Just in case.
