In this series, I am going to talk about things that I think every good dungeon should have. Of course your mileage may vary.
Have you ever been to a dungeon and not had a place to put your bag while you were playing? Because I’ve been in that situation more than once. A lot of times there’ll be chairs (usually folding chairs) that can be moved around the dungeon and used, but if you have a particularly long play bag it’s not ideal.
Nor is it ideal to put your stuff on the floor. Not only can it get stepped on, but also the floor may be dirty — even a “clean” floor is dirty sometimes. I like to swap around the implements I use and if I put one on the floor I can’t use it again until I clean it. And that’s just for impact; imagine the sanitary issues if you don’t have somewhere to put your knives or needles.
The tables don’t need to be particularly large — just a little bigger than your average living room tray table. This model is pretty popular — it’s light, foldable, and sturdy enough to hold most play bags.
I’ve also seen people bring their own tables to dungeons. That’s always a little amusing to me; they go to a spot where they’re going to play and whip out a folding table from a carrying case.
Unless your dungeon is too cramped to have room for tables (in which case you have a different problem) you should definitely put some in there. Your dungeon-goers will thank you.
