Recently I was at a dungeon night with Partner 1. I spanked her twice, and I also spanked an old friend who’s been out of the scene for a while. All the scenes were fun, and we all had a good time, but I was reminded that I need to take care of myself as well. (This is not a masturbation reference.)
By the time I got to the third scene, I was getting a little tired — it was late (for me — I usually am in bed before 10 and asleep before 11). About five minutes into the third scene I realized that I was running low on energy. The person I was spanking swears she didn’t notice, but I felt like I was flagging, especially when I was spanking with my hand.
I should’ve known something was up before the scene; I’d been drinking a ton of water — more than usual — at the dungeon. That usually means something is up, and it’s probably food-related. The dungeon usually provides small salty snacks, but when I start to get tired and I want to keep going, I need protein. Fortunately, I had brought a couple of protein bars; unfortunately, I didn’t eat one before the third scene.
I ended up eating one right after, and it kept me going enough to get us home, but I really should’ve eaten it before. I powered through the scene and it went really well, but I think it would’ve gone even better if I wasn’t feeling quite as run-down.
Self-care. Something to remember. Two scenes, then snack, then continue. This hasn’t really been a problem at spanking parties because I usually have snacks in my room and the parties have snacks in the hospitality suites. And when I have parties at home, or go to parties at other people’s houses, there’s plenty of food. That is one thing I miss about 1763: the dining room always had a good selection of different types of snacks, including (usually) fruit and cheese as well as candy and chips. The Mark also has snack options.
The moral of the story: bring your protein bars to the dungeon and don’t forget to eat them.
